Susy Thomas, Ph.D.
With over twenty years specializing in evaluation of learning and attentional disorders, Susy has expanded her practice to provide college counseling here at Bass Educational Services. Susy has dedicated her career to empowering students to work towards being lifelong learners. She earned her B.S. in Psychology and minor in Spanish from the University of Scranton. As an undergraduate, Susy authored research on nontraditional college students. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Boston.
Susy completed pre-doctoral training in neuropsychology at teaching hospitals of Harvard and Cornell Medical Schools and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After completing her fellowship, Susy worked as a staff psychologist at Kennedy Krieger for almost five years and has been in private practice as a Maryland psychologist since 2000. Susy has taught undergraduates as part-time faculty at UMass Boston, Cal State Northridge and University of Baltimore as well as graduate students at George Washington University. Her volunteer efforts include sharing her time and talents as a school board advisor at a local elementary and middle school as well as on the Institutional Review Board for Boston Behavioral Medicine. Here at Bass, Susy collaborates with students and families to find the best fit for post-secondary learning. She is informed by her experiences as an evaluator, former university instructor, advisor, and, parent of three daughters (including a high schooler!). As a military spouse, Catholic school parent, daughter of Indian immigrant parents and first in her family to attend college, Susy is able to draw on these roles to assist families who have traveled similar paths. Susy is an Associate Member of IECA and a Fellow of the Maryland Psychological Association.
